|Rescue Me ID: 16-05-10-00138Honey (female)|
Sweet, sweet Honey. I am so in love with this girl... Honey is available through Summit Dog Rescue. The typical adoption fee is $395, but Honey has an anonymous sponsor in Arkansas (where she's from) who has donated $100 of that. In terms of temperament, she LOVES people. She would follow me around and snuggle 24/7, if she could. She also loves playing with other dogs, going for walks, and going to work with her person! She can very occasionally bristle (for lack of a better word) at times, but that's common with rescue dogs (as I'm sure you know). Here's her story: Months and months ago, Honey was found as a stray, very emaciated and she had obviously just had puppies, though they weren't with her. She wandered into a couple's yard, and they kept her there for a few days. One day, she started barking a lot, which was unusual for her, so they went to check on her. It turns out that an elderly gentleman had wandered away from his retirement home on his scooter, into the open area behind their house, and had accidentally overturned his scooter. It was a very hot day, and he had passed out. The couple credited Honey with 'rescuing' him, and decided to do everything they could to help her. She's happy, sweet, and learning new things every day. At her foster home, she's amongst other dogs and does great. We do feed her separately, since she currently guards food with a little rumble of a growl (which isn't uncommon for dogs who've experienced a scarcity of food). Patient training can definitely alleviate that behavior. She LOVES to play with our puppy and also loves to cuddle up with us. She's one of those dogs who will give you a gentle nudge if she wants you to pet her. She's gorgeous, sweet, and playful. She's gone to work with my husband at his office a few times, and just wanders around saying hi to everyone and wagging. She would love a patient home with people who will give her training, tons of attention (rubbing and petting), positive associations, and set-ups for success. (Less)
